Cleanliness & infection prevention
our team of doctors and staff are vigilant, thorough, and proactive when it comes to your health and safety. Our commitment to cleanliness and infection prevention has always been a top priority, and today it is more vital than ever as we all work toward stopping the spread of COVID-19. We want to tell you about the infection control protocols we follow—and additional measures we’ve introduced—to keep our patients and staff safe.
Industry Standard Safety & Sterilization Practices
Our office follows safety and infection prevention guidelines provided by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), as well as recommendations from the American Dental Association and the Massachusetts Dental Society. We closely monitor the activities of these agencies to make sure that we stay current on new rulings and adhere to all suggested health and safety practices.
Our standard procedures include all industry-adopted infection prevention practices, including:
- Sterilization of all equipment before every use
- Thorough and ongoing sanitization of all surfaces in treatment rooms and public spaces
- Frequent hand-washing and sanitizing by staff
- The wearing of masks, gowns, and gloves
- Usage of one-time, disposable materials
Additional Measures for COVID-19 Prevention
We’ve also introduced additional safety measures to protect our patients and staff and slow the spread of COVID-19. For example, our team’s health will be monitored daily for COVID-19 symptoms or possible exposure through screenings and temperature checks upon arrival to work. You will also notice some changes to the way we normally do things:
- First and foremost, we’re asking patients to inform us before coming to our office if you have any underlying medical conditions that puts you at increased risk for illness.
- Prior to your appointment, our office will contact you by email or phone to ask you screening questions related to COVID-19 symptoms and possible exposure. You’ll be asked those same questions again when you arrive at our office.
- We will take your temperature with a no-touch temporal thermometer when you arrive at your appointment to screen for fever.
- We are providing hand sanitizer at our reception area and in different locations around the office. We will ask you to use the hand sanitizer when you enter the office and exit the office at the end of your appointment.
- Seating in our reception area will no longer be available. We will ask that you remain in your car or outside the office until you are called in for your appointment.
- To help with social distancing, appointments are being managed so that less people will be in the office at one time. We are allowing for more time per patient, which means there might be fewer options when scheduling your appointment.
- To minimize time at the front desk, you will be asked to pay any insurance co-payments and treatment fees electronically or over the phone whenever possible. We will provide options and assistance with this before your appointment.
Thank you in advance for your cooperation with these policies. If you have any question about our infection prevention processes or the measures we’re taking to protect you and our staff, please ask. We believe honesty and transparency and want you to feel comfortable, safe, and informed when you visit us.
