Periodontics is the field of dentistry that specializes in gum disease (periodontitis) and the health of the structures that surround and support your teeth, such as the jawbone and the connective tissues around it. The most common symptoms of periodontal issues include sensitivity, inflammation, and bleeding around the gums.
